Xavi Cardell Yacht Design, was created in 1996 in Barcelona as a Naval Architecture office, to work in the yacht design industry world wide. Its original name was IDN, Spanish abbreviation for Naval Design and Engineering.

The design team is formed by: Xavi Cardell, yacht engineer and designer, as head manager. Michele Molino, nautic engineer and project manager. Josep Seras, industrial design engineer and project manager. Jordi Rizo, industrial designer and main 3D modeller; also in charge, together with Xavi Cardell, of the interior design as well as the external appearance of the yachts. Andrea Crocellà, nautic engineer. Lluís Vidal, naval and oceanic engineer. All of them being well aware of the latest technology.

Other than just internal projects, XCYD has also specialized in outdoor services such as three dimensional space analysis for yachts, their systems and engine rooms, 3D models for CNC milling, etc. These tasks are offered to both internal projects and external designers or yards.

The main Spanish boatyards have trusted Xavi Cardell's team for the design and engineering of their vessels, as well as for the adaptation and improvement of their serial production.

The firm is also involved in some I+D projects in cooperation with other professionals of this industry.
